Pansy Paradise is a wardrobe that tells a story of transformation and playful abandon through the lens of gay liberation of 1970s New York, epitomized by the brief utopia of pre-AIDS Fire Island and personified by the artist Larry Stanton, who’s portraits of friends and lovers document a vibrant and tender flowering of artistic and social freedom. Classic 1970s suiting silhouettes in wool and cotton give way to casual leisure and workwear in terry cloth and leather, all of which include hand-drawn prints and 3D applique elements.
